Great London Neighbours

The best part of London Neighbours is the focus on all things good and the community involvement. Too many “groups” are a 1-way street of bad news and complaining and cliques that will throw you out if they don’t like you, which creates alienation and exclusion.

The London Neighbours Project has 8 simple rules to ensure local community and inclusion is key.

Be kind and curteous

We really are all in this together. It takes a community to create a community and treating each other with the kindness we want and good manners is a basic need. Anybody who is rude to others will be muted and if there is a repeat, you will be banned/ejected from all groups across London.

A Spam and Promotions free zone!

Just dumping links bring nothing useful at all and make a business look dreadful. Dumped links will be deleted and the neighbour will be muted. Any repeat earns a ban. Borough businesses will be offered chances to tell their community all about them on a scheduled small business Saturday.

Giving Recommendations

Online recommendations are rife with fakes and friends recommending each other. If you are posting a recommendation of anything, you must state when you used them and what they did. No biased recommendations of your friends or family or yourself as a self-promo. “I heard” or “apparently” will be deleted.

Factual and Polite about events

Have an experience to share? You must ensure that it remains factual, stays polite and is 1st hand. Not “This happened to a friend of mine” Avoid phrases like “They suck” and stick to the facts. Any use of “apparently” or “A friend of mine told me” or any “third party opinions” will be removed as will you.

Avoid hate speech and Bullying

Bullying of any kind, degrading comments about anything such as race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated. There is no place in society for hate speech and bullying and anybody seen bullying others or making hate comments will be instantly banned.

Respect everybodies privacy

London Neighbours is a group of neighbours within each borough and each has the right to be able to share things with their fellow neighbours without it being shared all over the internet. As such, all neighbour groups are private and content is unshareable. Please don’t copy/paste content elsewhere.

Seeking Recommendations

How many time have you seen somebody ask “Can anybody recommend a builder” or something just as generic? If you are asking for a recommendation, be specific. Specify exactly what you are looking for and where. Specify what type of work and where to avoid 10 people having to ask “Where” or “For what?”

Pointless Moaning & Whinging

Moaning never solves anything and is not allowed. Asking about how to deal with something causing you a problem is perfectly fine, Moaning about fireworks or parties is just moaning. Facebook doesn’t care and neither do your neighbours. Life is too short. Moan at the people cause the problem!
